BASEBALL
In the Patriot League, Trevor Googins drove in Evan Yakavonis in the ninth inning, leading Whitman-Hanson (6-8) past Plymouth South 3-2. The victory gave Patrick Cronin the 500th win of his coaching career. … Mike Losordo blasted his first home run in a four-RBI day, pacing Hanover to an 11-4 win over North Quincy.
Jeff Charron belted a three-run homer, while Dan Surette added three RBI on two hits as Braintree (11-4) blanked Brockton 13-0 in five innings in a nonleague game. … Brian Foley pitched six shutout innings with nine strikeouts, and Charlie Walker homered twice and drove in five runs as Milton (13-2) topped St. Mary’s (Lynn) 6-0.
Ian LaForest had a good day from the mound and at the plate, throwing four hitless innings and batting 2-for-2 with two RBI as Waltham topped Weston 10-0 in Dual County League play.
Sean McNamara singled and hit two sacrifice flies, driving in three runs as Lowell Catholic defeated Greater Lawrence 12-2 in the Commonwealth Athletic Conference.
